First Etsy Sale!

Well I am very very pleased to announce I got my first every Etsy sale yesterday!  I was a little gingerbread couple made out of felt.  I am personalising the items by embroidering the names to them and adding blonde hair to the girl.  I’d been adding the odd few bits Etsy and kept sharing the posts on my Facebook wall, hoping for that first sale.  In the end it was just someone searching on Etsy who bought my first item!

So I will be finishing that off tonight and will take a pic to share when it’s finished.  I was hoping to finish off my purple crochet shawl and get that listed on Etsy tonight but looks like that will have to wait until the Gingerbread couple are done.  I think it seems that gingerbread man things are selling well at the moment.  Maybe it’s the shabby chic / country kitchen that seems so popular at the moment??  I am thinking of making a garland of mini gingerbread men and adding on Etsy to see if I get any interest.  It shall have to wait until after the weekend though as I have so many things on the go at the moment!  Lots of un-finished projects that I just must crack on with.

Here are just a couple of things that I did get finished at the weekend, a cute hearts and circles ribbon / bunting, a goddess brooch and a goddess hanging decoration.

I am just on my lunch break at work and guess I should actually use some of it to eat something instead of just writing my blog and looking on Etsy :o)

I am trying to get finished off a “Bright Blessings” banner for a friend of mine, he makes beautiful jewellery and we agreed to have a little swap.  His favourite colours are bright ones, in particular pink and purple but he actually left the rest of the design to me.  Below is a photo of the bunting all cut with the letters stitched on.  I hope he likes it!  It would have been finished a while back but I kept running out of materials, first the purple felt and then the black cord that I use for the bunting that I make.  My lovely hubby is picking up some cord from Hobbycraft today so I can finish this and get it in the post.

Joshua is recovering from almost knocking himself out on my mum’s radiator.  Getting up every two hours during the night to check on him wasn’t fun but gave us the peace of mind that he wasn’t suffering from concussion!  I’ll post some photos as the swelling goes down and the bruising comes out, my poor little dude!

Although I had my alarm set for 5am this morning I asked the hubby to switch it off once it went off and I stayed in bed and missed my exercise routine.  Not sure why but woke up with a banging headache....... it’s still there now as I write this but not as bad as this morning.  Think an early night will be needed, have had lots of food I shouldn’t have this week so need to get back on the exercise bandwagon!

My first blog!

Well hello everyone!

I've never blogged before so please bear with me while I get the hang of this!  A little introduction from me would seem a smart way to start out.  Soooooo......

My name is Jackie and I am a 30 year old mum to two boys and step mum to one boy.  My step son Cameron is the eldest at 14yrs old, then I have Dan who is 5yrs and Josh who is 3yrs.  I am married to the lovely Dave and we lived in Leeds in Northern England.

I work full time as a Financial Analyst which obviously takes up a lot of my time, but any spare time I get I love to spend with Dave and the kids.  When the boys are in bed I love crafting and making creations out of recycled materials, felt, buttons, socks, card, pebbles.... well almost anything I can.  It's a relatively new hobby for me, I have never sewed a thing before December 2011, well maybe the odd button on a shirt but that is about it.  But after being involved in a Christmas handmade ornament swap I was well and truly bitten by the crafting bug.  I don't spend a lot of time watching TV and would waste a lot of my time on my laptop doing nothing constructive so this seemed a perfect way to spend my evenings.

I've started this blog to share our crazy busy life with our friends and family and hopefully make new friends along the way.  And to also share the crafty things I make and sell and hopefully inspire other people out there to take up a new and exciting hobby.
